2. Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy covers the information we collect, store and use when you use our web application.

Knowlift collects the minimum amount of information necessary in order to provide you with the full application experience. Besides this, we also receive some standard information about the environment of a user, information which is part of the HTTP protocol, the protocol which sits at the foundation of data communication on the World Wide Web. This information includes, but is not limited to: the type of device you're using and your IP address.

We do not sell, rent or provide outside access to any data we collect and store. Any data that a user provides via accessing our web application is solely owned by us.

We do not ask, nor there is no functionality embedded into this web application for you to share any additional information with us like your email address, phone number, address book contacts, credit card information, etc.

All information you provide to us is stored on secure servers. However, remember that even large companies are subject to cyberattacks and espionage. See this link for more information.

Although we make every effort to protect the personal information which you provide to us, the transmission of data over the Internet is not completely secure. As such, you acknowledge and accept that we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to this web application and that any such transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to prevent unauthorized access.

Do Not Track is a web browser setting that requests that a website/web application disables its tracking of an individual user. When you choose to turn on the DNT setting in your browser, your browser sends a special signal (known as a DNT header) to websites/web applications you encounter while browsing to stop tracking your activity.

Note that the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) has been working with industry groups, Internet browsers, technology companies, and regulators to develop a DNT technology standard. While some progress has been made on this issue, it has been slow, and to date no standard has been adopted. Without an industry standard for DNT, users cannot know how any given company abides by a DNT signal they receive from browser headers.

3. Cookie policy

A Cookie is a small piece of data that a server sends to the user's web browser. The browser may store it and send it back with the next request to the same server. This is used to maintain state information for the stateless HTTP protocol as you navigate through different pages on a website or return to the website at a later time.

Persistent Cookies vs Session Cookies

Session Cookies are stored in your main memory.
Persistent Cookies are stored on your secondary memory.

Session Cookies last as long as your browsing session.
Persistent Cookies stay on your computer or mobile device until they expire or are deleted.

The location of Cookies on your drive (in the case of Persistent Cookies) varies depending on your browser. They can either be in separate text files, or they can be in a single file (usually an SQLite database, which is a light database used by browsers for local storage), in which case a Cookie is just a row in a table in that database. In order to find out the exact location on your machine where persistent Cookies are stored you need to consult the documentation that your browser manufacturer provides.

First-Party and Third-Party Cookies

First-party Cookies are Cookies that are associated with the host domain.
Third-party Cookies are Cookies from any other domain.

Example:
Let's say you visit www.example.com by typing the URL in your browser's address bar and blog.example.com, example2.tv, example3.ro all have banner ads on this page.

If all of these sites set Cookies, then the Cookies from www.example.com and blog.example.com are first-party Cookies, and the Cookies from example2.tv, example3.ro are third-party Cookies.

Third-party Cookies are often blocked and deleted through browser settings and security settings such as same origin policy. Blocking third-party Cookies does not create login issues on websites (which can be the case by blocking first-party Cookies) and may result in seeing fewer ads on the web.

We only store session Cookies, i.e Cookies that are stored in your main memory and are deleted after you stop browsing.

We DO NOT store persistent Cookies (neither placed by us, nor by any third-party for any kind of service such as advertising or analytics).

We use session Cookies in order to enable certain features, such as automatically changing the game level based on your gaming record (number of correct/incorrect answers).

The law states that we can store Cookies on your device if they are strictly necessary for the operation of this site. Any other Cookies (those that are not critical for the functioning of the website such as those used for analytics or advertising) require consent.

Most browsers allow you to control Cookies through their settings preferences. However, if you limit the ability of websites to set Cookies, you may worsen your overall user experience.

For instance, you could set your browser to block Cookies from certain domains only, or from all domains entirely. If you were to block Cookies coming from this domain, the browser will not accept the session Cookie and therefore you will not benefit from the entire game experience. To find information regarding how other browsers let you manage Cookies, consult the documentation that your browser manufacturer provides.
